Research & Treatments Maybe you need help getting your ideas on paper? Or maybe you need a write up to raise money for the project. We get started with a healthy dose of research, talking with people, reading a few books. From there, ideas begin to take shape…we bounce some around and a couple ideas have real promise. These are fleshed out in treatments: What will the audience see and do? How will the story flow? What’s the whiz bang stuff that could fit in the show? One idea seems to stand out with the team, and it’s full steam ahead.

Media & Story Design The media design develops the many components of a mixed-media show and works them through until they form a coherent experience. Our approach puts the narrative and content of the show directly in the middle of the exhibit design. This stage involved a lot of words on paper, but at the same time, we’re creating sketches, talking with experts, placing lights in the grid objects and special effects in the space, and putting real numbers in the budget. The final output is a document called an show outline matrix. It is the core of the production and the core of the service we provide.

Scripting and Copy Text Once the show is designed in the outline matrix, all the narration, dialogue, and jingles must be written before production can start. This is where characters come to life to entertain and teach, and facts become insights for your visitors. We work through the wording of messages, the timing of jokes, the tone of the entire show. We have a number of creative writers with backgrounds in science, culture and written word. This is a fun stage where we work in sessions, acting out our narrations, hamming it up as we hammer-out the final phrasing. We can be as sober or wacky as you wish.

Direction & Production There are few projects that we’re not involved in bringing our creations to final production. We will direct as much of the show as you’d like us to. If we’re needed to direct the talent, we’ll be there. If you want us on site during the installation to oversee the work and to program the show, we’ll do that too. If you want us to take the whole project in hand and produce it from A to Z, not a problem. Our involvement in the production ensures that the product will be executed according to the goals, intents and vision that in which you’ve invested so much.
